We’ve only gone and booked a training camp in Mallorca….
After last years adventures in La Marmotte Nick, my cycling buddy, and I agreed we would stay in the UK in 2019 and focus on a few of the harder sportives and do a coast to coast in a day.
However….. Nick forwarded an email from Sportive Breaks, saying “looks tempting”, I replied “just say when” and within a couple of days it was booked for 20th to 24th March 2019.
Our ride itinerary is:
Thursaday – Into the middle of the island to the classic climb of Puig Randa. We roll through sleepy villages and have lunch in Randa before taking on the climb with views of the whole island. Distance 120km, elevation 1100m
Friday – Mallorca coast to coast. The Queen Stage. One of the world’s best one day rides following the Ma-10 all the way from Andratx to Port de Pollensa over four main climbs. Distance 115km, elevation 2965m
Saturday – Sa Calobra day! The biggest and hardest climb on the island. We save Sa Calobra until last. After one climb we take the coast road all the way to this climb. From the top, it is downhill almost the whole way home. Distance 110km, elevation 2700m
Sunday – Final day ride to the lighthouse. An early morning spin to the cafe at Cap Formentor. This is a classic Mallorcan route on rolling terrain with some spectacular scenery. Distance 40km, elevation 1300m
